Her name is Sophie...Sophie Etta to be exact. She is my great grandmother. Grandma Sophie went to be with the Lord in 1972..but she left a lasting impact on my life. She was never rich...or famous...in fact, she had very little. What she did have was... joy! Joy for the Lord! To this day, I can still visualize her sitting in the yard; under my grandma's shade tree, in her rocking chair. She would rock and sing...and clap her hands. She didn't sing just any old songs. She sang songs like "I'll Fly Away," "Amazing Grace," and "The Old Rugged Cross." The old Hymns! I guess if I think about it, it wasn't the songs that she sang that made such an impact...It was the joy on her face! Her great joy for the Lord!
His name is Jess...Jessie Claude to be exact. He is my grandfather. Grandad Jess went to be with the Lord in 1986...but he left a lasting impact on my life. Grandad was never rich...or famous...in fact, he had very little. What he did have was...love! Love for the Lord...and for His Word. To this day, I can still visualize him sitting in his chair...reading his Bible. And what love he had for the Lord!
Her name is Beulah...Beulah Bertha to be exact. She is my grandmother. Grandma Beulah went to be with the Lord in 1974...but she left a lasting impact on my life. She was never rich...or famous...in fact, she had very little. What she did have was...compassion...compassion for others! Grandma Beulah sacrificed her own wants and desires to care for her elderly mother...a true example of Christ.

When you leave church tomorrow...what lasting impact will you leave behind?
Will the children remember if the music wasn't perfect? Will they remember if a leader was missing...causing everyone to gather into one classroom? Will they remember any of the things that seem so important to us as leaders? Or, will they remember YOU? Will they remember the JOY in your heart? Will they remember the LOVE in your eyes? Will they remember the COMPASSION in your heart?
