Self-Care

On Saturday’s, I normally tend to talk to you about…YOU!

I want to help you realize how valuable you are… how important you are… how far-reaching your influences are. I want you to know that you are an integral part of God’s plan.

The things that you think and feel are important. Your thoughts and feelings have value…they are vital…even crucial. They are the things that make you the unique individuals that you are.

So if you are so important, why is it so hard for YOU to see how special YOU are?

You cannot see how special you are because, like many others, you are so focused on those around you that you fail to focus on yourself.

Imagine with me for a moment, if you had 10-15 minutes; twice a day, what would make YOU happy? What are some of the things that YOU would enjoy doing? What little treats would YOU indulge in? What quick “pick me up” activity would YOU do?

Would you kick off you shoes, close your eyes and meditate? Would you have a good cup of coffee with no interruptions? Would you indulge in your favorite treats? Would you go for a quick walk to clear your head? Would you do some quick pampering? Do you even know what you would enjoy doing?

If not, it is time to figure it out!

Self-care is not a reward… Self-care is a vital piece in both your physical and mental health.

We all know that sleep, hydration, exercise and nutrition as all essential components of good health however, self -care is equally important.

We are all busy people…we live in a world of more, more, more. Many of us may think that we have no time for “self-care”. However, when you take time for yourself, you will actually discover that you are more productive…not less.

Everyone knows that when you put God first…when you do you quiet time first, when you have your prayer time first, when you read your Bible first…before anything else, everything else falls into place.

You can apply the same theory to self-care…take care of yourself first…so that you will be able to take care of everything else. Sleep, hydration, exercise, nutrition…AND self-care (time for YOU).

Please don’t get me wrong…This does not mean that you should put ourselves before others…it simply means that you put your “well-being” first…or “somewhere” in the equation… so that you will be able to take care of others.

It is ok to set aside time for yourself! Jesus Himself set boundaries around His time.

“That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took Him along, just as He was, in the boat. There were also other boats with Him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” Mark 4:35-40.

Jesus was sleeping on a cushion...Jesus was doing a little self-care! :)

Thank you for all that you do. Have a blessed day! I am praying for each of you!
